Where was your President born and information about his early life.

James A. Garfield was born in Orange Township,Ohio on November 19,
1831.His parents were Abram and Eliza Garfield.His father died
when he was a child his father was a wrestler.
Where did he receive his schooling and what did he study?
James was great in school he was really good in Greek and Latin.
He went to college at Williams college and studied
science and general studies.
Why did he want to become President of the U.S.and what are some of the events that led him to the position?
He thought it would be good for his family.One of the events was being
elected to congress.Rutherford B. Hayes only running for 1 term.He beat out
former President Grant for the Presidential nomination.
Background information about the first lady.
Lucretia Garfield was born in Garrettsville,Ohio on April 19 1832.
Her parents were Zebulon Rudolph and Arabella Greene Mason she was
the oldest of 4 children.She went to college at Hiram college.Before
she was married she was a teacher in Ravenna,Ohio.
She got married to Garfield in 1858 and had
7 children.Some of the important things she did were
invited famous writers,musicians,and artists to the White House.She also
made meals occasionally.
